About Bean Wares

All products of Bean Wares are designed, handmade and fired in a ceramic workshop in Copenhagen. Every piece has been fired to 1250C and the glaze applied are foodsafe. 

Brand story

Green bean, 綠豆 in Cantonese, is a nickname my parents gave me when I was born in Hong Kong as a premature baby weighting just over one kilogram. Over time, this little green bean fulfilled society’s expectations. I spent 25 years building a successful career in IT in Denmark. However, working hard became my whole life, without knowing what else it could be.

One day in 2023 I attended a pottery introductory class. Here I am, changed paths completely to start a new world beyond IT. The most treasured lesson in this transformative journey is that a pot can turn out very differently from what you expect. It often fails before it is even born. This awakening contrasts sharply with my previous life, where failure was rarely accepted with grace.

The logo is based on the oracle bone script for the character “bean” (豆). In the Bronze Age, It represents a raised container for holding food and drinks. I hope you can find a piece of bean ware that connects with your own story - a piece that reminds you to embrace life as it is, or to have the courage to make a change.
